Theaker's Paperback Library

This version of our website has now been mothballed! Please follow us over to the Theaker's Quarterly and Paperbacks blog. |
The range is called Theaker's Paperback Library. We've tried to learn from the mistakes we made last time. So, for example, we won't announce any books until they are finished – and by that I don't just mean written, I mean edited, typeset, proofed and ready for the printers! Getting our magazine out on time will continue to be our main goal, and we'll work on the next book whenever there's any time left over from that. There are quite a lot of books we'd like to put out, but for the time being we'll take it one project at a time. We're going to use POD for all titles, which at a stroke will make it all much easier to manage (no printing costs, no stocks, no despatching, no cheques addressed to the wrong bleeding person). Reluctantly, we are going to shell out for distribution via Lulu to places like Amazon. One benefit of POD is that there are no overheads, so once (or rather if!) the POD setup fee of a book is covered (about £25), all the money from sales can go to the author. Obviously, there's nothing to stop an author from going to Lulu and getting the exact same deal for themselves. What they gain from having their book published by us is… um, I'll have to get back to you on that one! Submissions: Please don't submit any novels to us just yet. For at least a year or two we'll only be working with books and novels that have already been through the TQF sausage machine, and authors who have suitably low expectations… As ever, our goal is to minimise how much work we have to do! Review copies: we've taken a leaf out of PS Publishing's book on this one – we'll supply pdfs of our books to anyone who can point us to where their reviews appear (online or offline), whether that's a blog, a website, a magazine, an ezine or so on. If you'd prefer the books in another format, for example epub, just let us know. Email silveragebooks@blueyonder.co.uk and include a link to your previous reviews or the publication you're reviewing for. |
