Check Out the Tin Can Gallery! (27 January 2006)

When commissioning the artwork for the second Silver Age novel from Ranjna Theaker, we asked for a selection of pieces evoking its mood – only one could win the cover, but now, after a sort through our archives, all those pictures have been rediscovered and made available in a special Tin Can Brain Gallery. Just head to the bottom of the page. – HP

Gilligan's Thigh-Land #1 – Out Now! (26 November 2005)

Oh, I love a bad pun! We had quite a few comic strips from the hand of Mr Steven Gilligan around the office, and thought we might as well collect a few of them into this amazing anthology. The Bored Fish, the Ill People, and Crazy Ivan wait inside, all set to make your head explode! Kick ass, or just ass? You decide! Gilligan's Thigh-Land #1.

November Spawned #3 – Out Now! (17 November 2005)

It's taken me a little while to get this out, so I'm afraid the new editor's editorial is a bit out of date. My apologies! You'll just have to suck it up and read the three fabulous pieces of fiction that November Spawned #3 contains. Plus: the final part of the list of UK winners of NaNoWriMo 2004.

Daily Nano-Novel-Writing Tips! (4 October 2005)

We have set up daily novel-writing tips to help all our National Novel Writing Month compadres through the long, long month of November - see the column to the left! Be strong, my friends! [These have since been removed - SWT 2006]

Theaker's Quarterly Fiction #8 – Out Now! (1 October 2005)

It's out today - the best, the wildest, the thrillingest, the beefiest issue yet. Four authors. Four stories. Four destinies! Stories from Michael Wyndham Thomas, Howard Phillips, Steven Gilligan and John Greenwood fill an issue brimming with verve and vigour. Read it now! Theaker's Quarterly Fiction #8. Plus – a comic strip on the back cover!

Apologies for Some Technical Difficulties! (1 October 2005)

I'd like to say sorry for the zip files of our music being unavailable at the moment - our secondary web host has gone out of business. We will try to have this sorted out soon.

November Spawned #2 – Now Out! (1 September 2005)

We have fallen a little behind with November Spawned, despite having had more than enough copy for the entire year in our pockets since last January. Incroyable! But we will be catching up quickly, with a new issue now available and two more to follow in October and November. Go get it: November Spawned #2.

Exclusive Bootleg! Howard Phillips' Musical Version of The Fear Man! (23 August 2005)

Howard Phillips ditched his usual band to form Howard Phillips and the Saturation Point, with whom he has been working on a full album, based on my novel, The Fear Man (serialised in issues 7 and 8 of TQF). The album is not yet complete, with a couple of tracks consisting largely of drums, but we have managed to sneak from the recording studio a copy of the album as it stands at this time. Right click on the following link, save it to a safe place, and then spend a few days listening to Howard Phillips' Musical Version of The Fear Man!

We Jill Stephen Rediscovered! (12 August 2005)

Only one copy of the We Jill Stephen EP was ever made. The EP was recorded in mid-1992, and that one copy was lost shortly thereafter, only to be remembered, rediscovered and remastered in mid-2005. Find out more about the band that made the music: The Theakers!

Theaker's Quarterly Fiction #7 (12 August 2005)

We got a bit behind, but we're catching up quickly! This, Theaker's Quarterly Fiction #7, is the third of the issues planned for 2005. (Issue four was a lonesome dusty straggler from 2004.) This issue might be the best yet, with the second half of The Fear Man outshining even the first, and a terrific editorial from Howard, where he introduces the members of the band that has been thrilling pop-lovers all summer. – SWT

Dance, Dance, Dance to the Summer Beat!! (12 August 2005)

It must be Christmas! But no, it's summer, and so here is what every summer has been crying out for! The Summer Beat EP. Two more great tracks rocking it like no one else ever could. My years of heartbreak and pain, set to a beat that makes your feet move like there's jumping beans in your socks. Download it for free from the webpage of The Sound of Howard Phillips. If you want to share it with your friends, please do. – HP

Howard Phillips Says Go! (8 July 2005)

My old friend Howard Phillips is having one of his most productive years in a long time. Part of this must be put down to the energy pumped out by his band, The Sound of Howard Phillips. He feeds off them! Their first EP is now out - Howard Phillips Says Go! - and available to download from this very site! Visit our music section today! – SWT

Theaker's Quarterly Fiction #6! We Are Pumping Them Out! (30 May 2005)

Issue 6 of TQF is now out, featuring Stephen William Theaker's hopeless novel of revenge, The Fear Man. It also features, for those of you who enjoy more sophisticated fare, John Greenwood's entertaining tale "The Loper". The illustrations this issue are as abominable as ever, but happily this time there are only five of them. – HP

November Spawned #1 – Get It While It's Hot! (29 May 2005)

This first issue of November Spawned should have been available much earlier in the year, but now it's here, and it is well worth the wait. There are contributions from four November novelists, all but one of whom have long-standing ties to our Silver Age. (While I celebrate the publication of their new material, and look forward to the continuation of these novels over the next three issues, this is as good as place as any to say that, over the course of 2006, my goal is to see at least a dozen different authors appear within the pages of this publication. We shall see how it goes!) This is a well-packed magazine, 48pp, stoked to the gills, and it walks with a swagger! – SWT

Theaker's Quarterly Fiction #5! (9 April 2005)

Get it while you can: Issue 5 is now available, and it is the best issue yet! Steven Gilligan brings it like no one else can with an old school tale of space castaways, automated nurses and disgusting alien beasts! Adorned with the usual superb illustrations by my own hand, this is one issue you don't want to miss. The others you can probably do without, but this is the one that you tuck into your inner pocket, and later in the day it stops a bullet meant for your heart. – SWT

Theaker's Quarterly Fiction #4! (7 February 2005)

Now available for free download: Issue 4 of our marvellous quarterly puddle of fiction! This issue features a fascinating piece by Howard Phillips, which he describes as the transcript of a film he directed while sleeping. But whatever its eerie origin, make sure you don't expect to sleep after reading it – not unless you wish to make a bedcompanion of... FEAR! In startling contrast, the issue also features two of my tales of the young Rolnikov and his companions, the Terrible Trio. In these instalments they dig to the centre of the Earth and meet the astonishing Flipstanley VII, an android on the run from the authorities. His crime? DANCING! – SWT

The Poetry of Michael Wyndham Thomas (10 January 2005)

We would have been pleased to announce a forthcoming new book, due in May, a collection of poetry by the name of Port Winston Mulberry, by Michael Wyndham Thomas, a highly-respected author who has at one time or another guided at least three of our authors through their postgraduate studies, but unfortunately he has taken the collection to a more respectable publisher. His previous collection, God's Machynlleth and Other Poems, was published by Flarestack Publishing. – SWT

Happy New Year! (1 January 2005)

Happy new year to all men, women and children of the Silver Age. I have a feeling that this will be our most glorious year yet! – SWT
