Well, to be honest, most of these reviews are pretty ropey (at least the ones I wrote – other people have written some really good ones). The more reviews I write, the more I become awkwardly aware of how narrow my frame of literary reference is, but I'm trying to improve. From issue twenty-six we've begun to include ratings out of ten at the end of reviews; that's a reflection of my limitations as a reviewer... My reviews tend to be quite nitpicky: they could easily give the impression that I didn't like something, whereas in fact I just found I had more to say about its faults or oddities! Until I develop the vocabulary to intelligently say why I liked books, ratings indicate pretty clearly how I really felt about them. We're more than happy to receive books, comics and magazines for review as pdfs (send them here). If you want to post any books, comics, DVDs, CDs, games etc to us the address is in the magazine's indicia. If you're wondering whether it's worth sending us a book, experience suggests we are more likely to read and review: science fiction, science fantasy, short books, non-fiction, and comics. We tend to take longer over: long books, short story collections, anthologies, horror, Tolkienesque fantasy, and series titles. If you would like to submit reviews for publication in our magazine, go ahead. For upcoming reviews, as well as some that didn't make the cut, see
