Since the first moment he had arrived Captain Ys of the Jzhakulian City Guard had known that something peculiar was going on. He could smell it in the air, he could see it in the faces of the townspeople, he could feel it in his bones. But this knowledge did him no good as he hadn’t the slightest inkling of exactly what this peculiar thing was. He tried to make himself feel better, but he never did find out what had caused that peculiar feeling.
