Mad Rolnikov made his first appearance in the second novel published by Silver Age Books, Quiet, the Tin Can Brains are Hunting! Intended as a brief guest star, the chapters devoted to his mini-adventure put the rest of the book in the shade, leading the author to focus entirely upon the mad knight in his follow-up. The thing that makes Rolnikov so intriguing is the curious and comical relationship he shares with his squire, Pelney. Constantly at odds, yet perfectly complementary, their manipulation of each other is always guided by a sense that when all is said and done, there’s no one else on the planet upon whom they can rely.

Rolnikov was scheduled to appear in his very own novel, Rolnikov, Mad Knight of Uttar Pradesh, due to be published years ago now. It might be written one day, but not yet.

Two stories of his childhood adventures in Uttar Pradesh and beyond appeared in Theaker's Quarterly Fiction #4, "The Terrible Trio Dig to the Earth's Core!" and "The Terrible Trio Meet the Flipstanley Who Moved Too Fast".

Interestingly, this was one of the first few pages to be written when this website was first created, but only in June 2006 was it updated for the first time.
